About me …
Hi, my name is Sandra van den Nieuwendijk and I’m a Psychologic Counselor based in The Netherlands.
I have been counseling people for over 25 years. In my practice I provide guidance, advice and coaching to men, women and couples of all ages, in all walks and stages in life and in a vast array of topics and issues.
My philosophy is that, with patience, time and in a save place, no topic is undiscussable, inconceivable, unmentionable, taboo, or off-limits. That means that everything is considered open for conversation and counseling. Only then, with complete transparency, you and I can work together towards tackling your objectives, obtaining clarity in potential pitfalls and reaching your goals.
Besides being a Psychologic Counselor for all this time, I have also worked for 20+ years as a manager in the corporate world.
I have a loving partner and family, I love to travel, sing, cook and write.
What do I do ...
Life can be challenging and will probably throw you a curveball on more than one occasion. Usually you take it within your stride, deal with the issue and move on. However, it's not always that easy.
Sometimes things happen to us that make you not bounce back that easily. Life events can have a toll on your mental resilience and, if left unresolved, can even dig in your overall strength, energy and happiness.
It doesn't always have to be a dramatic event, sometimes a small issue can make you react in a way that feels very unlike your ‘normal self’. That can be a sign of an underlying unresolved issue that was triggered. My advice would be not to ignore this whisper, but address it before your body and mind feel the need to scream in order for you to listen …
Why contact me …
It’s considered standard practice to take our car for a check-up every once in a while, do maintenance on our house and go to the doctor whenever there is a physical issue we want to get looked at. Why don’t we take the same care of our mental health ?
Why don’t we have the same consideration for our psychological wellbeing ?
Try and answer these questions for yourself.
If you are honest and answer one or more with ‘Yes” it might be a good idea to consider booking a session.
Do you want to know why you do what you do, say what you say, act how you act, or perhaps want it to be different ?
Do you feel you are going around in circles and find yourself making the same decisions or mistakes over and over ?
Do you and your family member have unresolved topics that prevent you from having a better relationship ?
Do you and your partner keep coming back to the same issue, but don’t feel you’re getting anywhere ?
Do you feel like you could use someone to be the mirror to your actions and thought processes ?
Do you want to get a better understanding of yourself, your life and your wants and needs ?
Do you feel like you are at a crossroad in life, with no clear vision which path to choose ?
Do you sometimes just need someone to talk to about what’s going on in your life ?
Do you feel like you are struggling with issues or cannot figure them out ?
Do you want to get to know yourself better ?
Those are just a couple of topics that can be addressed during a session, but what would you like to talk about ?
Why me …
Whether you have emotional taxing topics, serious life issues or you just need to talk or vent about day to day stuff, it can be daunting to physically go to a psychologist office and sit in the waiting room with other people. That alone can be a barrier or hurdle for someone to go to a therapist. That’s a shame and can mean that people don’t get the care and attention they need. That’s why my ‘office’ is online. From the comfort of your own home we can deal with whatever it is that needs addressing. From your own couch you can work on yourself. If there are tears, that’s fine, you’re home. If there is unresolved resentment, you can rage for a moment knowing your safe in your own environment. And in whatever mood the session leaves you, you can take your time before going out in the world again.
How does a session work …
I think it’s very important to have a click with your therapist. Therefor during our first hourly session I will check in after 30 minutes if you want to continue. I will give you two options:
~ We continue our session and I sent you the invoice afterwards. You will also receive a questionnaire to fill in if you decide to pursue. As soon as I receive the questionnaire back, I will get in touch with you to book your next appointment.
~ We stop our session, so you can think about it. I sent you the invoice (for 30 minutes) and the questionnaire to fill in if you decide to pursue. As soon as I receive the questionnaire back, I will get in touch with you to book your next appointment.
The questionnaire you fill in is confidential and the information you share is solely for me to be able to help you on your journey.
The same confidentiality applies to the sessions we have.
The questionnaire you fill in is confidential and the information you share is solely for me to be able to help you on your journey.
The same confidentiality applies to the sessions we have. I realise that the questions are extensive in number and depth, but they help both you and me to give insight into your wishes and goals for our sessions. When I get the questionnaire back, I will get in touch to schedule the appointment.
The session can take place via Zoom, Facebook Messenger, Facetime (Apple), Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp or Skype, in your own time, in your own space. Just tell me what works best for you.
